- The central spine of the city: eating out, shopping, and quick auto access in every direction. The safe middle ground when the trip has no single fixed destination.
- Near Indore Airport
- Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar Airport sits west of the centre. Worth staying out here mainly for a pre-dawn departure or a late landing — otherwise you are away from most of the city.
- Near Indore Junction
- The railway station is central and close to the old-city markets, which makes it the easiest base for arriving and leaving by train, and usually the cheapest.
- Rajwada & Sarafa (old city)
- The heritage core — the Rajwada palace by day and Sarafa's night food street after dark. Stay here if the trip is mostly about eating and walking.
- Gangwal Bus Stand
